This resolution commends New York State Investigator Allyson C. Head for her heroic actions during a dangerous water rescue on May 12, 2024. Specifically, Head, along with two other troopers, responded to a report of a suicidal man in the Unadilla River who was in an altered mental state and unwilling to exit the water. Despite the dangerous and nearly freezing conditions, Head and her colleagues entered the rapidly moving water, successfully rescued the individual, and brought him to safety. Her quick thinking and selfless actions prevented what could have been a potentially tragic outcome. The resolution recognizes her bravery as being in the highest traditions of the New York State Police and honors her with the Superintendent's Commendation Award, which is designed to recognize outstanding law enforcement officers who demonstrate exceptional service and dedication to protecting the people of New York State. The legislative body resolves to formally recognize Head's heroism and transmit an official, engrossed copy of the resolution to her.
