This bill establishes a new statewide residential families committee within the developmental disabilities advisory council in New York. The commissioner is required to create a fair application process for selecting committee members. The bill aims to give residents with developmental disabilities and their families a stronger voice in the oversight and improvement of residential care facilities. The new committee will take effect 60 days after becoming law.
