This bill requires the Small Business Administration (SBA) to relocate its regional, district, and local offices (excluding headquarters) from so-called "sanctuary jurisdictions" within 120 days of the Administrator determining that an office is located in such a jurisdiction. A sanctuary jurisdiction is defined as a political subdivision with laws or policies that prohibit or restrict government entities from sharing immigration status information or complying with federal immigration detainer requests. The bill mandates that if an office is not relocated within the 120-day period, the office must cease operations, and its employees will be reassigned to other SBA offices in the same state (or another non-sanctuary jurisdiction state). Additionally, the head of any non-compliant office will be immediately removed, and the Administrator is prohibited from establishing any new SBA offices in sanctuary jurisdictions. The bill aims to pressure local governments to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement by potentially disrupting local SBA office operations in jurisdictions that limit such cooperation.
