This resolution honors Captain Adam J. Kuspa, a dedicated firefighter from Elkhart, Indiana, who passed away on January 6, 2025, at the age of 41. Born in South Bend, Indiana, on May 19, 1983, Kuspa had a lifelong passion for firefighting that began in childhood, when he would chase fire trucks and play firefighter with his older brother. He started his firefighting career at age 15 as an explorer for the Portage Township Fire Department and worked at various fire departments, including Warren Township Fire Department and the University of Notre Dame, before realizing his dream of becoming a full-time firefighter with the Elkhart Fire Department in 2006. Throughout his career, he earned several promotions, ultimately becoming a captain, and was remembered by loved ones for his ability to fill a room with laughter and his strong commitment to his family and community. The resolution formally recognizes Kuspa's selfless service and dedication to the fire service, and directs the Principal Clerk of the House of Representatives to transmit copies of the resolution to State Representative Doug Miller for distribution.
