This bill provides $22,000,000 in state bond funding for the city of Chanhassen to construct a regional recreation, community, and event center. The complex will include two indoor ice rinks, a walking track, indoor turf, an indoor playground, gathering spaces, and meeting rooms. The bill requires the city to implement a fee schedule that offers free or reduced rates for Chanhassen residents. Additionally, the facility must be designed with sustainable features, including rainwater recapture and solar energy infrastructure, in compliance with state sustainable building guidelines. The commissioner of management and budget is authorized to sell and issue state bonds to fund the project, with the bonds to be issued according to existing state financial regulations. The funding can also be used to acquire real property for the project. The bill becomes effective immediately after final enactment, allowing the city to proceed with design and construction of the sports complex.
