This bill amends Pennsylvania's existing law regarding medical supervision of professional wrestling events by expanding the requirement for medical personnel in attendance. Currently, the law mandates a physician must be present during wrestling contests or exhibitions, but the new provision allows a certified registered nurse practitioner (CRNP) to also serve in this role. The CRNP must observe the physical condition of participants throughout the event and has the authority to stop the contest if they determine that continuing would likely result in severe injury. The bill specifies that any CRNP employed by the event promoter must practice in accordance with specific sections of The Professional Nursing Law. The medical professional's fee will continue to be paid by the event promoter, and the language is updated to reflect that either a physician or CRNP can fulfill this medical oversight role. The bill will take effect 60 days after its enactment, providing time for wrestling promoters and medical professionals to understand and implement the new requirements.
