This resolution honors the memory of John Louis Hayes, Jr., a respected citizen of Madison, Tennessee, by highlighting his life achievements and character. Born in Nashville in 1933 as the eldest of eleven children, Hayes served in the United States Navy during the Korean War era, spending three years on active duty and an additional twenty years in the naval reserve. After his military service, he worked at Atlantic Envelope in Nashville and later in restaurant management, while also serving as a bookkeeper for St. Joseph Catholic Church. Hayes was deeply committed to his family, actively coaching his sons' baseball teams and enjoying outdoor activities like fishing. He was an Atlanta Braves fan and photography enthusiast who was survived by five sons, ten grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren. The resolution acknowledges his legacy of integrity, compassion, and dedication, and was passed by the Tennessee Senate to commemorate his life and contributions to his community, family, and country.
