This resolution commends Thomas J. Buono, a veteran and community leader from New York, for his extensive service to his country and local community. The resolution highlights Buono's military service in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, where he served with the 21st Signal & Aviation Group and achieved the rank of Specialist 4th Class, as well as his subsequent service in the Army National Guard. After his military career, Buono worked for the United States Postal Service for 38 years and served as President of the American Postal Workers Union for 32 years. He is actively involved in numerous veterans' organizations, including serving as President of Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 944, Chairman of the Veterans Cemetery Committee, and Director of Wreaths Across America. In 2020, he was elected to the New York State Veterans Hall of Fame and continues to support Gold Star Families in Oneida County. The resolution celebrates Buono's patriotism, community involvement, and upcoming special recognition by the Lake Delta Kiwanis Club of Rome, acknowledging his significant contributions to his family, community, state, and nation.
