This bill creates a women veterans history trail to recognize and celebrate the contributions of women in military service. The New York State Department of Veterans' Services will develop this trail in collaboration with the state military museum, parks and historic preservation office, and state historian. The trail will include various sites of historical significance such as museums, memorials, battle sites, and historic homes. The department will solicit information and recommendations from counties, cities, towns, villages, veterans' service agencies, and other organizations to help identify and include relevant locations. To make the trail accessible to the public, the department will develop multiple methods of sharing information, including a website, mobile application, press releases, and digital veterans' welcome kiosks located throughout the state. The goal is to provide a comprehensive and engaging way to honor and educate people about women's important role in military history. The bill will take effect 90 days after becoming law.
