This resolution celebrates Augusta McCray Dixon, a dedicated teacher at Booker T. Washington Elementary School in Port Arthur Independent School District, who is marking her 40th year of teaching in 2025. A Cass County native and first-generation college graduate from Wiley College, Dixon has distinguished herself as an exceptional educator who teaches second-grade math and science while going above and beyond typical classroom responsibilities. Throughout her career, she has not only made complex concepts accessible to students and fostered critical thinking skills, but has also provided additional support by helping students with clothing and school supplies. Recognized as the 2014 Teacher of the Year, Dixon has been an active faculty member who has led the school's gifted and talented program, participated in curriculum development, mentored other educators, and continuously sought professional growth. The Texas House of Representatives formally congratulates her on this significant milestone, extends appreciation for her positive impact on young Texans, and will prepare an official copy of the resolution as a formal recognition of her remarkable commitment to education.
