This bill modifies the powers and entry rights of Pennsylvania Game Commission officers when accessing private property. Previously, Game Commission officers could enter any property outside of buildings, including posted land. The new bill introduces restrictions on when and how officers can access private land. Specifically, officers are now prohibited from entering land where trespass is clearly indicated, such as through direct communication from the landowner, posting of no-trespassing signs, physical fencing, or the use of specific purple paint markings on trees or posts. The purple paint markings must meet precise specifications: vertical lines at least eight inches long and one inch wide, placed between three and five feet from the ground, and positioned no more than 100 feet apart. These changes aim to provide landowners with clearer protections against unwarranted entry by Game Commission officers while still preserving their ability to investigate potential violations of game and wildlife regulations. The bill will take effect 60 days after its passage.
