This bill amends the Rural Electrification Act of 1936 to establish a Broadband Technical Assistance Program designed to help rural communities improve their internet connectivity. The program will provide grants to various organizations, including nonprofits, governments, Tribal entities, educational institutions, and other eligible entities, to help them develop and implement broadband infrastructure projects. Specifically, these grants can be used for activities such as preparing grant applications, identifying funding sources, conducting feasibility and market studies, creating technical design plans, analyzing operational efficiency, collecting infrastructure data, and addressing other broadband-related needs. When selecting grant recipients, the Secretary of Agriculture will prioritize organizations with experience providing technical assistance to rural entities, and will allow national and multi-state organizations to apply for grants to provide on-site community technical assistance and training. The goal is to expand broadband service access in rural communities by providing comprehensive support and resources to help entities navigate the complex process of developing internet infrastructure.
