This bill requires the New York State Commissioner of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation to establish a review process for new large urban telecommunication infrastructure that is proposed to be built near historically significant sites. Specifically, the bill defines "large urban telecommunication infrastructure" as free-standing street or sidewalk telecommunications structures over eight feet tall. The commissioner must create a process to approve or deny such infrastructure if it is planned within 200 feet of a site that is listed on the state or national historic register, or is eligible for national register listing.
