AI Summary
This bill establishes a standardized public disclosure form for legislatively directed spending items, which are specific funding allocations proposed by legislators. The form requires comprehensive information from the sponsoring legislator, including details about the recipient, project purpose, amount requested, previous funding sources, and estimated completion timeline. For nonprofit organizations seeking such funding, additional requirements include having operated continuously in the state for 36 months, maintaining a physical office for at least 12 consecutive months, and having a board of directors. The form also includes certification statements from the sponsoring legislator affirming they have no personal financial interest in the spending item and that the recipient is not a for-profit entity. The bill defines key terms such as "immediate family member" and "staff member" and specifies that a legislator means a duly elected member of the senate or house of representatives. The bill is set to take effect on January 1, 2026, and is contingent upon the enactment of another related bill, Senate Bill No. 596, aimed at increasing transparency in how legislators direct public spending.
