The resolution highlights that animal-assisted therapy can improve self-image, develop emotional expression, provide comfort, and offer unique emotional support, with animals often having an innate ability to detect and respond to human emotions. The Rhode Island House of Representatives urges the Director of the Department of Health and Human Services and all citizens to appreciate and promote the life-changing bond between humans and animals. Additionally, the resolution directs the Secretary of State to send certified copies of the resolution to the state's Department of Health and Human Services and two specific animal therapy organizations, Paws from the Heart Pet Therapy and the Windwalker Humane Coalition for Professional Pet Assisted Therapy, thereby formally acknowledging the important role of therapy animals in enhancing people's quality of life.
