This bill temporarily allows health care professionals licensed in foreign countries or other U.S. states to provide medical services in New York during the 2025 Ryder Cup without obtaining a New York state license. Specifically, the bill permits physicians, physician's assistants, massage therapists, physical therapists, chiropractors, dentists, optometrists, nurses, nurse practitioners, emergency medical technicians, podiatrists, and athletic trainers from foreign governments or other states to treat team athletes, coaches, staff, and delegations associated with the Ryder Cup from September 22-29, 2025. The professionals must be in good standing in their home jurisdiction and, in the case of out-of-state providers, must be appointed by the PGA of America to provide services at the event. This temporary exemption from standard licensing requirements is designed to ensure that international and out-of-state sports teams have access to medical care during the prestigious golf tournament, with the provisions automatically expiring at the end of the event.
