This bill modifies a previous capital project grant appropriation for Isuroon, a nonprofit organization supporting immigrant women in Minneapolis. The original grant of $3,000,000 was initially designated for predesigning, designing, constructing, and renovating a property at 1600 East Lake Street. The bill now expands the potential use of the grant by allowing any remaining funds after the initial project's completion to be used for acquiring property, predesigning, designing, furnishing, equipping, renovating, and constructing a specialty care center within the metropolitan area (as defined by Minnesota Statutes). The bill also allows the organization to be reimbursed for project costs incurred after June 1, 2023, and specifies that the amendment becomes effective the day after final enactment. This modification provides Isuroon with additional flexibility in using the granted funds to further support their mission of serving immigrant women and providing mental health counseling.
