This bill amends the Funeral Director Law by modifying the requirements for inspectors appointed by the State Board of Funeral Directors. Specifically, the bill reduces the required years of active professional experience for inspectors from ten years to five years. The inspectors, who must be licensed funeral directors, will continue to be appointed and serve at the pleasure of the board and will receive compensation set by the board with departmental approval. These inspectors retain their existing powers, which include serving legal processes, entering funeral directing businesses for inspections, investigating complaints, and conducting other board-directed investigations. The bill will take effect 60 days after its enactment, providing a standard transition period for implementation of the new, less restrictive experience requirement for board inspectors.
