A devout Catholic, Ballard was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and was inducted into the Order of St. Louis IX in 2003. The resolution highlights his lifelong commitment to service, faith, and education, noting that he leaves behind his wife Ruby Nelle Harrison Ballard, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous former students and colleagues who were profoundly influenced by his wisdom and dedication.
