This add-on rate is intended to improve the quality of care and increase access to team-based services, particularly for advancing pediatric screenings and promoting the prevention and treatment of behavioral health issues in children. To qualify for this additional payment, pediatric practices must meet specific "fidelity criteria," meaning they are adhering to the established standards of the HealthySteps model. For federally qualified health centers and rural health clinics, this HealthySteps payment will be in addition to their existing payment structures, and the revenue generated from this add-on will not affect other payment calculations. The bill also defines "pediatric practice" as a clinic providing pediatric care and clarifies that the HealthySteps model offers services organized into three tiers and eight core components.
