This resolution recognizes May 19, 2025, as Trooper Day at the Texas Capitol, honoring Region VII of the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) for their critical security and law enforcement work. Since September 1991, these officers have been responsible for protecting the 46-block area around the State Capitol in Austin, performing essential duties such as providing police and security patrols, managing traffic and parking, protecting dignitaries, monitoring surveillance, operating security checkpoints, investigating crimes, and managing crowd control during demonstrations. The resolution commends these officers and civilian staff for their three decades of dedicated service in maintaining law, order, and safety, allowing state legislators and employees to conduct their work securely. The Texas House of Representatives formally acknowledges their important contributions and extends best wishes for their continued success, with an official copy of the resolution to be prepared for Region VII as an expression of gratitude and high regard.
