This resolution recognizes Gail "Big Boy" Hester, a prominent Round Rock business owner and community leader, upon his retirement after more than six decades of service. The resolution highlights Hester's significant contributions to the community, including owning Hester's Auto and Body since 1960, hosting annual fundraising events that have raised over $400,000 for local charities, and being recognized as the unofficial mayor of Round Rock. Known for his generosity and community involvement, Hester was honored with a Lifetime Achievement award by the Round Rock Chamber in 2009 and named a Local Legend in 2002. The resolution also notes his passion for baseball, having played on the city's first Little League team and helping to bring the Round Rock Express Triple-A team to the area. In recognition of his contributions, the city renamed a baseball field in Memorial Park to Big Boy Hester Family Field in 2024. The Texas House of Representatives congratulates Mr. Hester on his retirement, extends best wishes for his future, and will prepare an official copy of the resolution as an expression of their high regard.
