This resolution mourns the death of Catherine "Katie" Kronmiller Huther, a lifelong community activist and resident who lived in Springfield, Illinois before moving to Seattle, Washington in 2015. Born in Utica, New York in 1934, Huther was a University of Rochester graduate who worked for ten years as an assistant for community relations at Springfield Public Schools and was deeply involved in civic engagement, serving on numerous organizational boards including the Illinois Environmental Council, League of Women Voters, Lincoln Memorial Garden, and the Illinois Symphony Orchestra. The resolution highlights her commitment to community service, her love of social activities like dinner groups and book clubs, and her passion for traveling with her family. The Illinois Senate extends its sincere condolences to her surviving family members, including her husband John, three children (Jeff, Eric, and Melissa), sister Jane, and six grandchildren, and resolves to present a copy of the resolution to her family as an expression of sympathy.
