This resolution commends the Ready Louisiana Coalition, a bipartisan statewide organization formed in 2018 that includes over 180 businesses, chambers, advocacy groups, and early childhood education professionals advocating for investment in quality, affordable early care and education in Louisiana. The resolution highlights the critical importance of early childhood education, noting that 90% of brain development occurs between birth and age four, and that early educational experiences significantly impact future learning, health, and social behaviors. The coalition believes that investing in early childhood education will better prepare students for life, enable family workforce productivity, and serve as an economic driver for local communities. The resolution also acknowledges that the current lack of accessible early childhood education disproportionately affects children of color and those in poverty, impacting both future and current workforce potential. As a result, the House of Representatives formally recognizes the Ready Louisiana Coalition's efforts and designates Tuesday, May 20, 2025, as Early Ed Day at the state capitol.
