This resolution commends the Ready Louisiana Coalition, a bipartisan statewide organization formed in 2018 with over 180 members from businesses, chambers, advocacy groups, and early childhood education professionals, who advocate for investment in quality and affordable early care and education in Louisiana. The resolution highlights the critical importance of early childhood education, noting that 90% of brain development occurs between birth and age four, and that quality early education can lead to long-term improvements in education, health, and social behaviors. It acknowledges that the current lack of affordable early childhood education disproportionately impacts children of color and those in poverty, and affects both future and current workforce productivity. As a result, the resolution officially designates Tuesday, May 20, 2025, as Early Ed Day at the Louisiana State Capitol and commends the Ready Louisiana Coalition for their efforts to raise awareness about the importance of early childhood education. The resolution also directs that a copy be transmitted to Sadie Becnel, the Government Affairs Director and General Counsel for the Louisiana Policy Institute for Children.
