This concurrent resolution creates the America 250 Louisiana State Commission to collaborate with the federal America250 commission in planning and coordinating the 250th anniversary celebration of the United States, which will occur on July 4, 2026. The commission, which is a successor to previously established commissions, will be composed of various state officials and appointees, including the governor, lieutenant governor, secretary of state, representatives from cultural and educational institutions, and members appointed by the House Speaker and Senate President. The commission's purpose is to support America250's mission of educating, engaging, and uniting Americans by planning programs that honor U.S. history and culture, such as public art displays, museum exhibitions, and educational curricula. The commission will be advised to report its activities to the lieutenant governor, who will provide organizational support, and will be funded through donations and state and federal funds. Established to inspire the American spirit and deepen understanding of the nation's history and democratic process, the commission will be officially abolished on July 4, 2027, following the milestone anniversary celebration.
