This concurrent resolution commends the Food Bank of Delaware for its extensive efforts to combat hunger and support communities across the state. Founded in 1981 and now the largest hunger relief organization in Delaware, the Food Bank has made significant contributions, including distributing over 16.3 million pounds of food (equivalent to 19.5 million meals) in fiscal year 2024, serving 40,796 households through its Mobile Pantry program, and providing 302,483 meal kits to at-risk youth. The organization has also developed innovative workforce development programs, including culinary and logistics training that graduated 105 job-ready students in fiscal year 2024, and has specialized programs supporting individuals with disabilities. With over 740 program partners statewide and operations in Newark and Milford, the Food Bank addresses food insecurity for the 120,130 Delawareans experiencing food challenges, while also operating farms that produce fresh produce and maintaining home delivery services. The resolution honors the Food Bank's ongoing commitment to nourishing Delawareans and addressing the root causes of hunger and poverty in the state.
