This bill amends Title 10 of the Delaware Code to expand the recognition of critical incident stress management (CISM) team members and trained peer support members within the Delaware State Fire Commission. Specifically, the bill allows the Commissioners of the Delaware State Fire Commission to recognize CISM team members who meet national accreditation standards, in addition to the existing Police Officer Standards and Training Commission. The bill also permits the Board of Commissioners and Executive Director of the Delaware State Fire Commission to designate and approve first responders as trained peer support members, alongside existing agency leadership. These changes relate to confidential communications involving first responders, expanding the agencies that can officially recognize and approve specialized support roles for emergency service personnel. The modifications aim to provide additional support and confidentiality protections for first responders who may be experiencing stress or require wellness support following critical incidents in their professional work.
