This resolution honors Angela Flores Beck, a notable Texan lawyer and public servant, on the occasion of her 75th birthday on May 31, 2025. Born in 1950 to Francisco J. Flores Sr. and Maria Ernestina Saldaña Flores, she is the daughter of eight siblings and a graduate of Ursuline Academy and the University of Texas at Austin, where she earned her bachelor's degree with high honors and later her law degree. Throughout her distinguished career, she worked in the governor's equal employment opportunity office, served as State Representative Irma Rangel's first chief of staff, and was an assistant U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Texas. She was a pioneering lawyer who founded an all-female law firm and served as city attorney for several Texas towns, and notably became the first woman and first Latina to chair the Lower Colorado River Authority. Personally, she was married to the Honorable Dan Beck until his passing in 2015 and is a mother and grandmother. The Texas House of Representatives formally congratulates her on her 75th birthday, extends wishes for continued happiness, and will prepare an official copy of the resolution as an expression of their high regard.
