This resolution pays tribute to Captain Marvin Hampton Taylor III of the Killeen Fire Department, who passed away on May 11, 2025, at age 45, and commemorates his life and distinguished career in public service. Born in Fayetteville, North Carolina, in 1979, Taylor moved to Texas in 1983, married Samantha Rangel in 2009, and had five sons. He earned an associate's degree in paramedicine in 2014 and joined the Killeen Fire Department, where he rose to the rank of captain and was assigned to the training division. Throughout his career, Taylor held multiple certifications including advanced structural firefighter and swift water boat operator, and was a member of Texas A&M Task Force 1 water rescue and Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System wildland teams. He received several honors including the Medal of Valor, Certificate of Merit, and Rookie of the Year award. The resolution extends condolences to his wife Samantha, five sons, parents Marvin Taylor Jr. and Marilyn Coddington Coster, siblings Richard and Megan, and other relatives and friends, and officially memorializes his life of service and dedication to his community.
