Born in Evergreen, Alabama, in 1926, Northington grew up on a family farm during the Great Depression and later worked in Washington, D.C. as a messenger during World War II and trained as a nursing cadet. She married Charles William Northington in 1947, raised three children, and moved to Texas in 1967, where she became involved in community service by participating in a Primary Home Care pilot program and working with FEMA for disaster relief. The resolution highlights her role as a family matriarch with 5 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, and her long-standing membership at Hunters Glen Baptist Church in Plano since 1979.
