This resolution pays tribute to Richard Dennis Worrell, a U.S. Army veteran from Plano, Texas, who passed away on May 17, 2025, at the age of 81. Born in Yakima, Washington, on December 19, 1943, Worrell had a distinguished 25-year military career that included service in Vietnam, followed by 15 years as an army defense contractor training soldiers on military technology. He earned academic degrees from Cameron and Golden Gate Universities and was married to Mary Lou Sifuentes for over 50 years, with whom he had two children, Christina and Richard, and four grandchildren. After his military service, Worrell settled in Plano, becoming a Texas Longhorns and Dallas Cowboys fan who enjoyed traveling, playing cards, and hosting pool parties. The resolution, passed unanimously by the 89th Texas Legislature on June 1, 2025, honors Worrell's dedication to his family, faith, and country, and extends heartfelt sympathy to his wife, children, grandchildren, and other relatives and friends, with an official copy of the resolution to be prepared for his family.
