This resolution designates June 9, 2025, as "Dave Parker Day" in Pennsylvania to honor the legendary baseball player Dave Parker. Born in Mississippi in 1951 and raised in Cincinnati, Parker was a standout athlete who was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1970 and became a prominent Major League Baseball player, nicknamed "Cobra." During his 19-year career, primarily with the Pittsburgh Pirates, he achieved numerous accolades including the 1978 National League Most Valuable Player Award, three Gold Glove Awards, three Silver Slugger Awards, and seven All-Star selections.
