This bill, titled the Securing America’s Critical Minerals Supply Act, amends the Department of Energy Organization Act to define "critical energy resource" as any energy resource essential to the U.S. energy sector and systems whose supply chain is vulnerable to disruption. It mandates the Secretary of Energy to conduct ongoing assessments of these critical energy resources, including their criticality, supply chain vulnerabilities, domestic production capacity, and how foreign adversarial nations might exploit these markets. The bill also requires the Secretary to develop strategies to strengthen these supply chains by diversifying sources and increasing domestic production, separation, and processing, as well as to develop substitutes, alternatives, and improve recycling technologies for critical energy resources, and to report on these efforts to Congress within two years of enactment.
