The resolution highlights her commitment to education, often purchasing her own supplies and inspiring students by researching prominent African Americans. A long-standing member of Mount Carmel United Missionary Baptist Church, she has been active in her church for over 70 years. The resolution also acknowledges her personal life, including her marriages to Arthur Barron and Thomas Ford, her two sons, and her connections with her siblings and extended family. The South Carolina Senate officially congratulates Mrs. Ford on her 99th birthday, wishes her joy and happiness, and will present her with a copy of this commemorative resolution.
