AI Summary
This bill modifies the Administrative Code of 1929 by adding a new provision that addresses what happens if the state's general appropriation bill (the annual budget) is not passed by the constitutional deadline of June 30. Specifically, if the budget is not enacted by that date, state appropriations will automatically be maintained at 80% of the amounts specified in the most recent fiscal year's appropriation act. This means that if lawmakers fail to agree on a new budget by the deadline, government spending will be temporarily reduced to 80% of the previous year's levels, ensuring some continuity of government operations while creating an incentive for timely budget negotiations. The bill will take effect 60 days after its enactment, giving state agencies and lawmakers time to prepare for this new budgetary procedure.
