This bill amends Title 29 of the Delaware Code to increase monthly service, disability, and survivor pensions for retired state employees. Specifically, for pensions that were effective on or before June 30, 2005, the bill provides a 3% increase starting July 1, 2025, while pensions effective after June 30, 2005, but on or before June 30, 2020, will receive a 2% increase on the same date. These pension increases will continue to be paid through June 30, 2026, and in subsequent fiscal years, but are contingent upon the General Assembly appropriating funds in accordance with existing statutes (§ 5544 and § 5548). The bill aims to provide additional financial support to retired state employees by adjusting their pension amounts to help offset potential increases in living costs.
