Chambers, a Marine who was killed on July 21, 1944, during the landing on Guam after heroically rescuing troops under enemy mortar fire, and Sheldon L. Chambers, an Army Air Force Flight Officer who went missing on January 25, 1944, during a flight in China and was officially declared dead in 1946. Both men received multiple military honors, including the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and World War II Victory Medal.
