This resolution expresses the condolences of the Louisiana House of Representatives on the death of Bruce Patrick Donnelly, a longtime Republican Party activist who passed away in February 2025. Born in New York City in 1946, Donnelly moved to Louisiana as a teenager, graduated from St. Aloysius High School in New Orleans, and earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from Tulane University. He was married to Karen Donnelly for thirty-three years and resided in Jefferson Parish. Throughout his life, Donnelly was actively involved in Republican politics, serving on the Louisiana Republican State Central Committee and volunteering for numerous political campaigns, including those of Governor Dave Treen, Congressmen Steve Scalise and Bob Livingston, Presidents Ronald Reagan and Donald Trump, and U.S. Senator John Kennedy. He also served as the First Congressional District campaign chairman for Rick Santorum's presidential campaign and remained involved with the Pelican State Pachyderm Club until his death. The resolution celebrates Donnelly as a dedicated public servant and a friend to many, expressing heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones and ensuring that his legacy will be remembered.
