AI Summary
This bill provides funding and authorization for collective bargaining agreements for Judicial Department employees in Maine for fiscal years 2025-26 and 2026-27. Specifically, the bill covers salary adjustments for four bargaining units: administrative services, supervisory services, law enforcement, and professional services. The State Court Administrator is also authorized to provide similar compensation adjustments for certain employees who are currently excluded from collective bargaining. The bill allocates up to $10 million from the General Fund to implement these economic terms, with the funding contingent on the collective bargaining agreements being ratified by December 31, 2025. The agreements are being negotiated between the Judicial Department and two labor organizations: the Maine Service Employees Association and the Maine State Law Enforcement Association. The legislation is considered an emergency measure, which means it will take effect immediately upon approval, designed to address the timely compensation needs of Judicial Department employees and ensure fair treatment across different employee groups.
