This bill amends Michigan's Public Health Code to expand the ability of dispensing prescribers to delegate the delivery of prescription drugs in certain public health settings, specifically adding county jails to the list of public health programs where prescription drug delivery can be delegated. The bill modifies the definition of "public health program" to include county jails that provide medical care to inmates, and creates a new provision allowing dispensing prescribers under contract with county jails to delegate the delivery of prescription drugs associated with medically assisted treatment programs. This delegation can occur either to an inmate within the jail or, when an inmate is being released, can include a prescription supply of up to 30 days.
