This resolution establishes the Task Force on Child Abuse Investigation Processes, building upon previous work from Senate Resolution No. 167 of the 2024 Regular Session, with the primary goal of studying and improving methods for investigating child sexual abuse cases in Louisiana. The task force will consist of 14 members representing various stakeholders including child protective services, law enforcement, judicial system representatives, medical professionals, and a survivor of child sexual abuse, all of whom will serve without compensation except for potential per diem expenses. The task force's responsibilities include evaluating current investigation procedures, assessing interagency collaboration, identifying gaps in child abuse investigation processes, developing specialized training programs, and recommending legislative and procedural changes to enhance the effectiveness and sensitivity of child abuse investigations. Members will be appointed by their respective professional organizations, with the president of the Louisiana Senate serving as chair, and the task force is mandated to convene its first meeting by September 1, 2025, with a termination date of either the submission of its final report or December 31, 2027, whichever occurs first.
