School districts and schools are required to annually distribute the notice to parents or legal guardians of enrolled students, either electronically or by mail, and also make it available online. Both departments must post the notice on their respective websites, and schools must link to these websites. The bill importantly includes a provision that protects the departments, schools, and their employees from civil liability related to the distribution of this informational notice. The notice will be updated annually to reflect any changes in the law, ensuring that the information remains current and relevant for families regarding safe firearm storage.
