This resolution honors Joseph Germano, a veteran and local businessman from Mamaroneck, New York, who will be celebrating his 100th birthday on June 19, 2025. Born in 1925, Germano served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, participating in significant Pacific Theater invasions including Iwo Jima, Okinawa, and the Philippine Islands, and was honorably discharged as a Corporal in 1946. After returning home, he married Luisa Acocella and raised four children, while founding and operating the Mamaroneck Garage, a successful service station and body shop that at its peak employed 27 people and managed 15 tow trucks. Germano, who retired in 1994, has been an active community member, participating in various local organizations such as St. Vito's Church, American Legion, Elks Club, Rotary Club, and Veterans of Foreign Wars. The resolution celebrates his life achievements, community contributions, and the milestone of reaching 100 years, recognizing him as an exemplary citizen who has enriched the lives of those around him through his commitment, wisdom, and vibrant spirit.
