It mandates documentation and photographic evidence of physical and financial assets owned by these officials and their immediate family members, such as real estate, luxury assets, and foreign investments. The report must also identify financial proxies and entities used to obscure wealth ownership, and include an assessment of intelligence community cooperation in preparing the report. While the publicly posted version will be unclassified, a classified annex may be submitted to Congress. The bill's underlying purpose is to enhance understanding of CCP leaders' financial interests to better inform U.S. foreign policy, national security, and economic security decision-making by exposing potential hidden wealth and corruption.
