This bill modifies existing New Jersey law to expand who can provide nursing services in nonpublic schools. Currently, nursing services in nonpublic schools are restricted to registered nurses licensed by the New Jersey State Board of Nursing. The bill now allows nursing services to be delivered by any licensed medical professional within their professional scope of practice, which specifically includes licensed practical nurses (LPNs). The nursing services remain the same as in the original law and include medical and dental screenings, maintaining student health records, immunization tracking, and screening for scoliosis. The bill also maintains the requirement that schools adopt emergency care policies for nonpublic school students. By broadening the types of medical professionals who can deliver these services, the bill aims to provide more flexibility in how nursing care is provided in nonpublic schools while ensuring that care is still delivered by licensed professionals.
