AI Summary
This bill revises the statutory obligations of the Advisory Graduate Medical Education Council of New Jersey, transitioning its reporting responsibility from the Commission on Higher Education to the Department of Health. The council will now be required to meet at least annually and has been assigned expanded responsibilities, including developing an informational guide on graduate medical education funding, working with federal stakeholders to maximize program utilization, and creating workforce and population health outcome metrics. The bill mandates the council develop a five-year strategic plan for graduate medical education management and growth, and submit an annual report to the Governor and Legislature detailing its activities, workforce needs, funding allocations, and the impact of graduate medical education subsidies. The report must also analyze where medical graduates work after completing residency and provide recommendations for distributing graduate medical education positions in underserved geographic areas and specialty practices. Key terms like "Graduate Medical Education Subsidy" refer to funding allocations for medical training programs, and the bill aims to improve the strategic planning and effectiveness of medical education in New Jersey by providing more comprehensive oversight and analysis of the state's medical workforce development.
