This resolution honors the life and public service of Senator Bruce S. Peloquin, a dedicated public servant who passed away in October 2024 at age 87. Born in Chippewa Falls as the youngest of 10 children, Peloquin had a diverse career spanning public service, business, and education, including graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with degrees in business administration and school psychology. He served in the Wisconsin Assembly from 1965 to 1971 and the Wisconsin Senate from 1971 to 1979, representing Chippewa County as only the second Democrat in the 20th century to do so. Throughout his legislative career, Peloquin was involved in numerous committees and was particularly proud of his achievements in strengthening child abuse laws, advancing special education, and supporting educational initiatives. Beyond politics, he worked various jobs including at shoe and tire companies, co-owned a golf course, and worked as a school psychologist. The resolution highlights Peloquin's personal interests, including woodworking, birdwatching, and creating a "recycled house" from salvaged barn materials, and emphasizes his roles as a loving husband to Nancy and father to Simone, Traci, and Dean, ultimately remembering him for his wit, wisdom, and generosity.
