This resolution directs the Joint State Government Commission to conduct a comprehensive study and produce a report on workplace policies related to perimenopause and menopause, addressing a significant health issue affecting approximately 1.3 million women annually who experience symptoms such as weight gain, joint pain, cognitive changes, depression, hot flashes, and other health challenges. The study will examine existing education and awareness policies in both public and private sector workplaces, review policies concerning reasonable accommodations and supports for employees experiencing menopausal symptoms, consult with medical and legal experts, and investigate current Commonwealth employee support policies. Additionally, the resolution requires the commission to develop recommendations for state agencies to support women during perimenopause and menopause, review policies and educational materials from other states, and propose legislative recommendations to improve public understanding and support. The Joint State Government Commission must complete and report its findings to the House of Representatives within 18 months of the resolution's adoption, with the broader goal of advancing women's health and workplace well-being by providing accessible, accurate information about these important life stages.
