This bill aims to increase transparency in psychiatric hospital inspections by amending the Social Security Act to require the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) to publish more information about psychiatric hospital surveys on the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Care Compare website. Starting two years after the bill's enactment, national accreditation bodies will be required to include Form CMS-2567 (or a future standardized successor form) in their accreditation surveys for hospitals and psychiatric hospitals. The Secretary of HHS will work with stakeholders to develop this successor form and determine what specific information about psychiatric hospital surveys should be made public. Importantly, the bill includes privacy protections to ensure that published information does not reveal the identity of individual patients or healthcare providers. The goal is to help healthcare consumers make more informed decisions by providing easier access to survey results and performance information about psychiatric hospitals, while maintaining patient and provider confidentiality.
